‘La Cosa Nuestra’ is a superb Latin Colombian group. Its performance is full of raw energy. An all-singing, all-dancing show that guarantees the audience to react brilliantly to the band’s style and sound, becoming completely involved in the atmosphere of the night!
the spicy frontline includes acclaimed Colombians Mario Sarmiento and Katherine Zaidiza. They have only been in Australia for a few months but they have already performed at the City Hall and have supported Latin Bands such as Latin Harp and ‘La Gran Salsa’.
To complete ‘La Cosa Nuestra’ line-up, they are joined by Colombian Elkin Bernal and Christian Morales on percussion.
3 Latin Djs will guarantee a favulous night playing an extensive range of salsa old and new, Merengue, Bachata, and cross-over music depending on the audience.
LOS VALLENATOS
Next to Cumbia, Vallenato constitutes one of the most important native musical styles coming from Colom-bia. The roots of Vallenato lie with the music of the Wayuu Indians of the Güajira peninsula of Northern Colombia, in fusion with diverse African and Caribbean influences. The accordion-driven vitality of vallenata music is based on the ancient melodies and songs of mestizo cattle ranchers who lived and worked along the north Atlantic coast of Colombia. The gyrating feel is distinctly African American, with obvious influences from modern salsa and montuno rhythms.
